Riyadh - Arab Today

A expat worker of Sri Lankan origin was stabbed to death in Yanbu by his room-mate this week.
Mohamed Siyan Shihabdeen, 32, who was working for a glass factory in the port city of Yanbu was found dead following injuries due to stabbings.
Shihabdeen, who hailed from Kekirawa, a railway town some 177 km from the capital of Colombo, had been working as a glass cutter in a private establishment.
The police have in this regard arrested a Yemeni worker who was working in the same shop. It was revealed that the suspect did not have any problems with the deceased and there had been no arguments between the two.
Preliminary investigations reveal that on the night of the murder the deceased was in his room, busy with his mobile phone around 12 midnight, before the alleged killer entered the room and stabbed him with a knife.
It was disclosed that the killer had called the police that he had committed the murder. Police have yet to confirm these statements.
Confirming the murder, Acting Consulate General M.S.M. Ansar told Arab News that the mission had sent a special team to look after the interests of the deceased who was killed on Friday. He said that he was informed by the police that investigations were going on from the time of the incident. He said the mission has to wait for the findings of the police inquiry to proceed further with the matter.
Burial arrangements can only be made on completion of the police inquiry, Ansar said, explaining that the next-of-kin has to give the permission through the Foreign ministry for such burial in the Kingdom.
The deceased was working under Saudi sponsor Uzman Rusaid Alfaidi for the past six years. He had returned to the work place only six months ago after his third vacation.
He is survived by his wife Abdul Hakeem Mafasilla and his three children Fathima Asma, 5, Hasni Ahmed, two and half years and Fathima Zeenath who is only three months old.
