President Donald Trump
Washington - Egypt Today

North Korea’s launch of another intercontinental ballistic missile, the second such test in less than a month, is only the latest reckless and dangerous action by the North Korean regime, US president Donald Trump said.

In a statement released by the Whit House late Friday, Trump said: “the United States condemns this test and rejects the regime’s claim that these tests, and these weapons, ensure North Korea’s security. In reality, they have the opposite effect.”

“By threatening the world, these weapons and tests further isolate North Korea, weaken its economy, and deprive its people, ” the statement added.

The president noted that “the United States will take all necessary steps to ensure the security of the American homeland and protect our allies in the region.”

The US state of Department said “the United States strongly condemns North Korea’s launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile, the second this month, in blatant violation of multiple United Nations Security Council resolutions that reflect the will of the international community.”

“All nations should take a strong public stance against North Korea, by maintaining and strengthening UN sanctions to ensure North Korea will face consequences for its relentless pursuit of nuclear weapons and the means to deliver them.” it added.

North Korea conducted another successful test of an intercontinental ballistic missile ICBM, where the country’s leader, Kim Jong Un, personally supervised the midnight launch of the missile, the Korean Central News Agency ( KCNA) said Saturday.

Following the launch Friday morning, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Joe Dunford, and Commander, US Pacific Command, Adm. Harry Harris called the Republic of Korea Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman, Gen. Lee Sun-jin, and discussed military response options against Pyongyang, according to the Pentagon.

The US Army and its South Korean allies fired a barrage of large missiles into the waters off the South Korean coastline, an “exercise” intended to be a warning and a direct response to North Korea’s test of an effective intercontinental ballistic missile earlier Friday morning.

The US and South Korea conducted a live-fire exercise using surface-to-surface missiles after North Korea launched an ICBM.
