Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim says democracy unites Turkey
Ankara - Arab Today

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim says democracy unites Turkey, and that the referendum was a big win for all Turks.
Yildirim said that the referendum on constitutional amendments opened a new chapter in the democratic history of the country.
In a speech to the Justice and Development Party (AKP) in Ankara, Yildirim said that the outcome of the referendum would be positively reflected on the welfare and security of the Turkish people, stressing that the people had made their choice and agreed to change to the presidential system.
He added that the outcome of the vote is the best response to PKK and all foreign forces with animosity against Turkey.
"Democracy is our common value. Democracy is the value that unites us all, despite our differences," he further said.
Supreme Electoral Council President Sadi Guven also confirmed that the "yes" votes had prevailed, approving of the constitutional amendments, which include the transition to the presidential system.
Adding that the said official results would arrive in about 10 days, after taking in consideration all submitted objections, Anadolu Agency (AA) reported.
With almost all the ballots counted in Turkey's historic constitutional referendum Sunday, unofficial results showed Yes won with 51.37% -- 24,966,843 votes -- while No had 48.63%, or 23,636,067 votes.
On the committee's decision to adopt ballots cast without official stamps, Guven denied accusations by the leader of the Republican People's Party Kamal Kilicdaroglu "to change the rules in the middle of the game." Guven confirmed that the decision was "true and not taken for the first time." He explained that some of the committees have neglected the stamping of the ballots cast and that the Supreme Committee decided to adopt them because the default is not from the citizen, but from the committees supervising the ballot boxes.
The decision was adopted unanimously by members of the Supreme Electoral Commission, he said, noting that the number of non-stamped ballots cast is currently unknown.
