Turkey urged on Thursday its nationals in Kurdistan to leave immediately before flights are suspended on Friday.
After Kurdistan independence referendum, the Iraqi government gave Kurdistan three days before handing over the responsibility of airports or else it will face an air embargo.
The Iraqi government announced a halt to all flights from and to Irbil and Sulaimaniya in the Kurdish region as of Friday till the two airports are handed over.
Kurds in northern Iraq voted overwhelmingly in favor of independence in Monday’s non-binding vote that was opposed by most of world countries.
