Prime Minister Sherif Ismail appointed Mohamed Umran as acting head of the Financial Supervisory Authority (FSA) until necessary procedures are taken under the Constitution with the convocation of the new parliamentary session, Egypt's investment minister said Monday.
Sahar Nasr said the authority will work on laying down an integrated strategy for non-banking financial tools to boost national economy, lure investments and provide necessary funds for projects.
Umran served as president of the Egyptian Exchange for two terms starting from 2011 to 2017. He also acted as deputy chairman of the Holding Company for Insurance.
He worked as professor in a number of universities and research centers.
