US Vice President Joe Biden on Wednesday called President of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region Masoud Barzani.
During the telephone conversation, Biden thanked Barzani for his continued cooperation with Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar Abadi and the Iraqi government to defeat Daesh and ensure lasting stability in Iraq.
Biden underscored the urgency to maintain cooperation between Erbil and Baghdad for the liberation of Mosul and other Daesh-held territories.
He and Barzani also stressed the importance of respecting Iraq's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Both of them reaffirmed their commitment to the ongoing strategic partnership between the United States and Iraq.
