The Yemeni government hailed a statement issued on Thursday by the Quartet on Yemen.
The statement depended mainly on the Gulf initiative, its executive mechanisms, the outcome of the national dialogue and the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.
In a statement on Friday, the Yemeni Foreign Ministry said that the government was flexible vis-à-vis international efforts to end the war in Yemen which was imposed by the militias of Houthis and ousted president Ali Abdullah Saleh, while the militia sought to hamstring the UN-brokered peace efforts.
The statement added that the militias refused to carry out their commitments which they pledged during the Kuwait talks on a truce and sought to proceed with the war .
The statement urged the international community to shoulder its responsibility and prod the Houthis into ending the siege on Taiz.
The statement said the government is responsible for securing financial commitments of all financial institutions without discrimination.
The foreign ministers of the Quartet – comprising the US, Britain, Saudi Arabia and the UAE – called during their meeting in New York on Thursday for resuming a 72-hour ceasefire to enable the UN envoy to Yemen to bring the Yemeni parties back to the negotiating table and secure access of humanitarian supplies to all governorates, especially Taiz to alleviate people's suffering and stave off further economic deterioration.
