Israeli occupation forces early Sunday set up smart cameras as those used at airports, at the Bab Al-Asbat leading to Al-Aqsa Mosque/Haram Al-Sharif in the occupied Jerusalem.
Jerusalem Waqf (Islamic endowments) Department, Sheikh Azzam Al-Khatib, told Petra’s reporter in Ramallah that the Israeli police Saturday midnight installed a number of surveillance cameras, X-ray metal and infra-red detectors.
He added that the Israeli forces banned photographers from reaching the area, where the were cameras installed and imposed a tight military cordon around the area.
Al-Khatib stressed his rejection of Israeli escalation, stressing that the situation should return to its normal.
