The Israeli army laid siege to Halhul town, to the north of the West Bank city of Al-Khalil (Hebron), Monday night shortly after three Israeli teens, who went missing 18 days ago, were found dead in the area.
Large numbers of Israeli troops and Jewish settlers have been deployed on the hills around the town and at its entrances, head of Halhul municipal council Wajdi Melhem told KUNA.
The Israeli military authorities denied the residents of the town who were working outside access to their homes, Melhem noted.
The residents of the city are worried about possible aggressions by the Israeli troops and Jewish settlers in the coming few hours after some settlers destroyed Palestinian property in the nearby Al-Khalil city, he added.
Earlier today the Israeli troops broke into the home of Marwan Al-Qwasmi and arrested his parents on suspicion of involvement in the kidnap of the three Israeli teens.
In a related development, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas called an emergency meeting by the National Authority tomorrow to discuss the ramification of the mounting tensions with Israel, the Palestinan news agency WAFA reported
