Israeli forces launched on Sunday a wide-scale arrest campaign in the West Bank that targeted a number of Hamas leaders and activists, local media sources said.
The occupation forces detained Finance Minister in the Hamas-led government and MP Omar Abdel Razaq and a number of released Hamas prisoners and citizens.
The arrests took place in the Palestinian cities of Hebron, Nablus, Jenin, Qalqiliya and Ramallah.
Tensions in and around Al Quds began to soar after Israel imposed a number of restrictive measures on the entry of worshipers into the Al Aqsa Mosque compound after last week's armed clashes that left three Palestinians and two Israeli policemen dead.
The new restrictive measures include the installation of metal detectors at entry points to the mosque compound.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas ordered the suspension of all official contact with Israel until it removes the metal detectors.
This week violence left three Palestinians and three Israelis dead and hundreds wounded.
