At least three protesters were on Friday injured by live bullets and several others suffocated from teargas as Israeli forces quelled the weekly protest in the village of Kafr Qaddoum, in the northern West Bank.
Morad Shtewi, coordinator of the popular resistance in the village, said Israeli soldiers fired live bullets, rubber-coated rounds and teargas canisters towards the protesters, injuring three protesters, two of them by live gunshots, and causing many cases of suffocation from teargas inhalation.
The injured were moved to Rafidia public hospital in nearby Nablus city for medical treatment.
The soldiers also fired live bullets indiscriminately at homes in the village causing damage to come of them.
Almost every Friday, villagers from Kafr Qaddoum and nearby towns organize a nonviolent protest calling on Israeli occupation authorities to reopen the village’s main road, which has been sealed by the occupation authorities for 15 years.
