Jordanian King Abdullah II stressed Saturday that the Palestinian cause and protecting Al Quds (occupied east Jerusalem) top Jordan's priorities.
Jordan will continue carrying out its historic role in protecting Islamic and Christian sanctuaries in Al Quds, he affirmed.
These remarks came during the meeting held between the monarch and the editors-in-chief of some local newspapers and the head of the press syndicate in a meeting which took up the most important local and regional issues.
The meeting tackled Al Aqsa Mosque crisis and the efforts exerted to re-open it, according to a statement issued by the Jordanian royal court.
The king said that his country plays its historic and legal role in defending Al Quds despite all challenges, hailing the courage and resistance of Al Quds' residents, the statement read.
