PLO Executive Committee Secretary Saeb Erekat reiterated on Thursday the PLO's rejection of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's call for dismantling the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).
What we really need is to end Israeli occupation that has been in place for five decades now, Erekat said after meeting with the director of the French Foreign Ministry, Swiss representative to Palestine, the US Consul, the Chinese Ambassador to Palestine and a delegation of US political and media leaderships.
The existence of UNRWA is linked to settling the issue of Palestinian refugees, he added.
He called on the international community to hold Israel responsible for collective punishment against Palestinians.
Netanyahu has called on the UN to consider shutting down UNRWA operations in Palestinian territories after the UN agency announced the discovery of a Hamas tunnel underneath two of their schools in the Gaza Strip.
