The UN Security Council will hold an emergency meeting on Monday to discuss the Israeli escalation in Jerusalem, diplomatic sources said on Saturday.
Earlier in the day, Egypt, France and Sweden called for the meeting.
The sources added that the meeting tackle means to support calls for de-escalation as clashes between Israeli police and Palestinians continue in East Jerusalem.
Tensions have soared since two Israeli policemen were killed a week ago by three Israeli Arab gunmen who were also shot dead by Israeli troops.
On Friday, a Palestinian young man stabbed to death three Israelis in Halamish settlement after he infiltrated their home. He was shot and caught.
