4 soldiers killed in Somalia in explosion inside military base

At least four Somali soldiers were killed and 10 others were injured in an explosion inside a military base in Kismayo town, southern Somalia military officials said on Thursday.

"We have been busy paying soldiers, where we heard a powerful explosion inside the camp, four soldiers were killed while 10 others were wounded" Senior Military officer Abukar Yacqub said.

The officer said the situation now is under control and the injured soldiers were rushed to hospital for treatment.

Al-Qaeda linked Al-Shabab group, which is battling to topple Somalia's Western-backed government, claimed responsibility for the attack.
