At least 16 Taliban fighters were killed and 10 others injured in northern Afghanistan’s Faryab province, officials said Friday.Operations staged by Afghan security forces against the Taliban in the last 24 hours have killed 12 other militants and injured four in the Kaysar and Gormac provinces of Frayab, local police chief Turyaley Abdyani told Anadolu Agency.Four other militants died and six were injured when a roadside bomb they were planting accidentally exploded, Abdyani said.Afghanistan has heighted its security measures ahead of Saturday's presidential and provincial council elections which the Taliban has threatened to disrupt.
