Five Afghans lost their lives as twin bombs went off in Marja district of Helmand province, 555 km south of Kabul, on Thursday, a provincial government spokesman said. "A mine planted by militants struck a civilian car in Marja district at around 08:00 a.m. local time, killing three civilians including a child and when police arrived at the spot to help the victims, another bomb was detonated by remote control killing two police officers and injuring another,"spokesman for provincial government Omar Zawak told Xinhua. He blamed the enemies of peace, a term used by Afghan officials against Taliban militants, for organizing the deadly bombings. However, the armed outfit which is fighting the government and is largely relying on suicide and roadside bombings, has yet to make comment.
