Russian Premier League side Amkar Perm have parted ways with coach Rashid Rakhimov in a move aimed at stopping the club’s downward spiral. Amkar’s president Gennady Shilov said at a news conference on Wednesday that both parties agreed to tear up Rakhimov’s contract due to the club’s untenable league position. Rakhimov joined Amkar for a second spell in 2009 after coaching the team in 2006-07, but after narrowly avoiding relegation last year the club have made little progress this year, in 13th position with five games remaining. Amkar are winless in their last 10, losing six and scoring only three times, form that leaves them only three points ahead of 15th-placed Tom Tomsk in the relegation zone. The Tajikistan-born coach spent the two years in between at Lokomotiv Moscow.
