Jose Enrique believes Sunday's 6-1 win over Brighton at Anfield stands Liverpool in perfect stead for this weekend's Carling Cup finalThe emphatic victory was the last fixture before the eagerly-anticipated trip to Wembley for the clash with Cardiff, who are just four points clear of Gus Poyet's side in the Championship. And the Spaniard was particularly delighted with the prolificacy his teammates demonstrated in front of goal. "It's really important for us to have a win like that with so many goals," he told the Liverpool Echo. "We know this season we haven't scored enough in the league games so hopefully this is a good sign for us. "It's really good for our confidence ahead of next weekend's final. Everyone will take a lot from that victory." It was a confident performance from Kenny Dalglish's men as Brighton were dismantled and hit for six. The visitors did manage to stay level for 27 minutes in the first half but after the break the Reds flew out of the traps. Andy Carroll made it 3-1, arcing his run inside the penalty area before hammering past Brezovan in front of the Kop. Two more own-goals added to Brighton's misery before Liverpoolfc.tv journalists' Man of the Match Luis Suarez nodded in the sixth.Enrique himself was in fine form and Opta statistics show he was one of the most diligent players on the park, taking more touches than any other Liverpool defender and launching into six tackles. He said: "At the moment we're playing really well and now we'll start thinking about the final. It's really important for us and we want to win that trophy. "This is my first season here and to get to play in a cup final will be amazing. "We're in one final, we're in the quarter-finals of another and just four points behind the Champions League places in the league." The victory means the Reds will face Stoke at Anfield in a quarter-final clash on the weekend of March 17/18 where Dalglish's men will look to book another trip to the capital for the semi-finals in April. Enrique said: "I know there have been many games we should have won but didn't this season. But we're still in a great position. This is a new team but the more we all play together the better we will get. "We've got Stoke at home and we've got a good chance of getting into another final. "Now we will prepare to play Cardiff. Everyone thinks because we're playing against a Championship team it will be an easy game but we know it's going to be hard."
