The Germany international played a big part in the home side's 7-0 home win over the Swiss team with his outstanding display, only one week after Messi made Champions League history by scoring five times in the 7-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen. Nevertheless, Gomez has stressed that the Argentine is a different type of player, and added that he will never reach the current Ballon d'Or holder's level. "I'll never be as good as Messi and I'd never try to be," the in-form striker was quoted as saying by the official Uefa website. "He's a completely different player to me. I don't see him as a peer. I see him as the ultimate footballer." The 26-year-old has been in excellent form for Bayern this term, and has already netted 34 goals in all competitions in 2011-12.
