Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris insists he needs to play more games in order to boost his confidence. Lloris pulled off a string of world-class saves to earn Tottenham a vital point in their 0-0 UEFA Europa League draw at Lazio last night. Lloris had said last week that he found it "difficult to accept" that he was not the club's regular number one goalkeeper. The Frenchman, signed for £8million on deadline day from Lyon, has been second choice behind Brad Friedel for most of the campaign, but he started last weekend's north London derby against Arsenal and given his performance last night, it would be difficult to see Andre Villas-Boas dropping the 25-year-old for Sunday's game against West Ham. It's good to play in European games, but I need to keep playing and I hope that I will get to play more. Hugo Lloris Lloris is happy that he has started every Europa League game for Spurs, but he thinks he needs more Premier League football so he can get back to his peak. "I need to keep playing to get more confidence and play to my best," Lloris said. "It's good to play in European games, but I need to keep playing and I hope that I will get to play more." Villas-Boas' policy of rotating his top two goalkeepers has caused disappointment in the French national camp, with head coach Didier Deschamps warning that his captain could lose match sharpness if he does not play regularly. Lloris himself knows he has been anointed as the long-term successor to 41-year-old Friedel, however, and insists he will remain patient over the situation. "The coach takes the responsibility for the decisions," Lloris said. "I hope I do play more games, but at the moment we are concentrating on the aims of the club. I am part of a team, a club and respect decisions and we are not here to create problems. Things are good between all four goalkeepers and the goalkeeping coach (Tony Parks) too. "We have got some quality goalkeepers - Carlo Cudicini, Brad Friedel, and (Heurelho) Gomes too. We just train to our best and it's up to the club to then decide."
