Wolfsburg coach Felix Magath has admitted to making mistakes in 2011, but says he will get it right next year. Die Wölfe ended the year in 12th position in the Bundesliga with just 20 points from 17 games which included nine defeats. They are six points adrift of a place in Europe next season, which was the aim Magath set at the start of the campaign, but he admits he may have been a bit over-enthusiastic about his club's chances. "Of course everybody makes mistakes and I have too," he told the Wolfsburger Allgemeine newspaper. "I don't do everything right, but I know beforehand that one cannot do everything right. "Anybody can make mistakes, but what is important is that one recognises that they have made a mistake. In fact, everybody must make mistakes in order to improve, which is why I have no fear with any of my decisions because I know that I can also make mistakes, and mistakes are part of the game." However, Magath, who led Wolfsburg to the Bundesliga title in 2009 - his third German crown after winning two doubles with Bayern Munich - says he is now even wiser than before, which is why his not yet edging away from his target of a place in Europe next season. Die Wölfe were in precisely the same position at the midway stage of the 2007/08 season before picking up 34 points in the second half of the season to clinch a place in Europe. And the story was similar a year later when the club ended the first half of the season in ninth position with 26 points, but 43 points in their final 17 games saw them take their first ever title. "I am not scared of putting my head on the line," said Magath. "I have always said that I want to be successful and everybody laughed at me when I arrived in Wolfsburg and I said that I wanted the stadium to be full every week. "Two years later, we were champions and the stadium was always brimming. You have got to have goals and of course I want to win the league. I am absolutely convinced; in the second half of the season, we will get more points, have a better team and be more stable - we are going to go a long way up the table."
