Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho offered no excuses after last night's shock Primera Division defeat at Getafe, admitting the hosts deserved the three points. Madrid had won their last seven league meetings against Getafe and appeared set for another triumph when Gonzalo Higuain put them ahead in the 27th minute. However, Getafe hit back in the second half to stun their star-studded opponents with goals from Juan Valera and Abdelaziz Barrada, and Mourinho had no complaints over the result. "We dominated and won the first half, but we didn't play well," the Portuguese said on realmadrid.es. "They equalised and beat us in the second half, but the first half was not much different to the second. Getafe deserved to win and I congratulate them. "The players say there was a handball by [Adrian] Colunga, but I don't care. They didn't play fantastically, but they deserved to win and I congratulate them. We played badly and our performance was unacceptable. I'm not frustrated, because the final result, in terms of the match, isn't a surprise." The defeat completed a forgettable first week to the new campaign for the champions, who started their title defence with a 1-1 home draw against Valencia last weekend before losing 3-2 to arch rivals Barcelona in the first leg of the Spanish Supercopa on Thursday. Barca earlier last night battled back from a half-time deficit to win 2-1 at Osasuna to establish an early five-point advantage over their arch rivals after two games. When asked about the five-point deficit, Mourinho said: "It's too many points, with six on offer. It is a bad start, without doubt. The match against Valencia was different to this because we drew but deserved to win. Not this match (against Getafe). We deserved to lose in a match like this." On Madrid having failed to win in any of their first three official matches, the 49-year-old added: "I don't think it's ever happened to me. But each season new things happen: I'd never won 100 points, or scored 120 goals. "My career is getting longer and this is Real Madrid and it's not normal that from six points available you only win one. The Supercopa is different because it's a knockout competition. [Last night] was a horrible match." FIFA
