Social Solidarity Minister Ghada Wali said on Saturday that the ministry shoulders the responsibility of monitoring non-governmental organizations and receives no orders from foreign bodies to do this job.
During an interview with Sada el Balad TV channel, the minister said that about 1,100 NGOs are outlawed in Egypt while 571 others were dissolved.
The ministry is the body to consider permission for foreign funds directed to societies in Egypt, she said.
Scores of organizations have achieved success under the current law issued in 2002, she said, asserting, a new draft would be considered by in-waiting parliament
