Customs officials in Abu Dhabi foiled the attempt of three people from an undisclosed Arab country to enter the country illegally.
The general administration of customs of Abu Dhabi has said that its inspectors at the Mezyad Customs Centre blocked the suspects' attempt to cross the border illegally while carrying out their duty.
The inspectors who grew suspicious of an Arab truck driver searched his vehicle and found the three Arab men hiding in the vehicle's trunk.
Mohamed Khadem Al Hameli, acting director-general of the general administration of customs in Abu Dhabi, praised the efforts of the customs officers while stressing the importance of monitoring and identifying suspicious vehicles, controlling illegal immigrants, and transferring them to the authorities concerned.
Illegal immigration poses a big risk and may increase crimes including murder and theft.
Al Hameli added: "The current situation in the region calls for further efforts in the inspection process as the country is a particular target for those looking to work illegally." Meanwhile, the four suspects were handed over to the competent authorities to take action against them.
