President Bashar al-Assad on Thursday visited the Martyr's Monument on Qassyoun Mountain marking the 38th anniversary of October Liberation War which restored the dignity and pride of the Arab nation. Upon his arrival, President al-Assad was received by Deputy General Commander of the Army and the Armed Forces, Minister of Defense, Gen. Dawood Rajiha and Chief of the General Staff, Gen. Fahid al-Jasim al-Freij. After the National Anthem was played, President al-Assad reviewed the Guards of Honor and received flowers from the martyrs' sons. President al-Assad shook hands with the Assistant Secretary General of al-Baath Arab Socialist Party, the two Vice-Presidents, Assistant Regional Secretary of the Party, Deputy Head of the National Progressive Front, the Speaker of the People's Assembly, the Prime Minister, the Deputies of the Defense Minister, the Chief of the General Staff and the Chief of the General Staff of the Palestinian Liberation Army. Later, the President laid a wreath on the Martyr's Monument and read al-Fatiha along with a number of the senior officers for the pure souls of the martyrs. Before leaving, a number of the martyrs' sons exchanged cordial talks with President al-Assad.
