The Arab League and the Arabic Language International Council signed on Thursday a memo of understanding to achieve common goals of the two sides.
The memo comes as part of the pan-Arab body's interest in the Arabic Language as the mother language of Arab countries and symbol of sovereignty and independence.
The agreement was signed by Arab League Assistant Secretary General for Social Affairs Badr el Din El Allali and Secretary General of the council Ali Moussa.
The council was created in 2008 and it comprises universities, unions, and organizations concerned about teaching the Arabic language.
The council aims at educating the world about the importance of the Arabic language and its connection to different languages, encouraging organizations and workforce to support teaching Arabic as it is important for technology and economy in today’s market and encouraging research, professional development and studies for Arabic language.
