The cabinet under Prime Minister Sherif Ismail approved on Wednesday a draft law on amending some items of the punishment law no. 58 of year 1937 on abducting people.
The draft law aims at aggravating the punishment for kidnapping crimes in light of its increasing rates in recent years.
In some cases, the abductor would be imprisoned for not less than 15 years and not over 20 years while in cases of abduction that is accompanied with rape, the abductor would be sentenced to death or imprisoned for life.
