HE Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani chaired on Wednesday morning the Cabinet’s regular meeting at its Emiri Diwan premises.
After the meeting, HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud said that the Cabinet reviewed topics on the agenda.
The Cabinet approved a draft law on industrial zones and its referral to the Advisory Council. This draft law defines the industrial zones as areas designated for industrial purposes in accordance with the provisions of this law, including lands, installations and facilities erected thereon.
According to the law, the establishment of industrial zones shall be decided by a decision of the Cabinet at the recommendation of the Minister of Energy and Industry in coordination with the concerned authorities in the State.
The lands of the industrial zones are considered as the State’s properties and shall be exploited in the ways provided in this law. Under this law, all natural resources that appears or lie within the territories of the industrial zones shall be a property of the State, and that the tenant shall be adequately compensated for the loss of full or partial use of these lands. No industrial establishment shall be founded in the industrial zones without an authorization from relevant authorities in the State and after the approval of the Ministry of Energy and Industry.
The Cabinet approved a draft decree on allocating some lands to Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation for the establishment of electricity and water production plant. The Cabinet also agree to join the International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships’ Ballast Water and Sediments for 2004.
The Cabinet approved a draft air services agreement between the Government of the State of Qatar and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia. Additionally, the Cabinet approved a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on legal cooperation activities between the Government of the State of Qatar and the Government of Malaysia.
The Cabinet also approved a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation between the Legal and Judicial Studies Center at the Ministry of Justice of the State of Qatar and Singapore Academy of Law of the Republic of Singapore.
After that, the Cabinet reviewed a letter of HE the Minister of Economy and Commerce on the legal mechanism necessary for the Qatar Financial Markets Authority to apply the provisions Law of the Commercial Companies and the control of the listed companies in Qatar Exchange and a letter of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qatar Financial Center Regulatory Authority on the annual report and audited accounts of the Authority for 2016. The Cabinet then took the appropriate decisions thereon.
