HE Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani chaired Wednesday the Cabinet's ordinary meeting at its Emiri Diwan premises.
Following the meeting, HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud stated that the Cabinet expressed its sincere thanks and appreciation to HH the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani for his huge efforts and sound guidance which resulted in releasing the Qatari citizens kidnapped in Iraq and their safe return to homeland.
The Cabinet congratulated the families of the returnees and the Qatari people on the safe return of the Qatari citizens. Then, the Cabinet reviewed topics on the meeting's agenda. The Cabinet approved a drat law on corporate bankruptcy and prevention.
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce prepared the draft law in the framework of its plan aiming at improving the investment environment in the state. The draft law aims at developing a detailed regulation of the provisions of corporate bankruptcy and prevention, taking into account international standards in this regard.
The Cabinet also approved a draft law regulating competition, and its draft executive regulation.
The draft law was prepared to replaces Law No. (19) of 2006 on the protection of competition and the prevention of monopolistic practices, as part of the modernization of legislation to keep pace with developments in this regard.
The Cabinet approved to accede to the Charter of Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
Meanwhile, the Cabinet approved a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in the field of youth between the Government of the State of Qatar and the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and a draft MoU for cooperation in the field of exchanging financial investigations between Qatar Financial Information Unit and the Financial Intelligence Unit of Sri Lanka.
After that, the Cabinet reviewed the following topics and took the appropriate decisions: 1. A letter of HE the Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman of the Standing Committee on Water Resources, on the second semi-annual report for 2016 on the work of the Committee during the period from 1/7 to 31/12/2016.
2. A letter of HE the Minister of Economy and Commerce on the results of the first session of the Qatari-Kyrgyz Joint Committee for Economic, Commercial and Technical Cooperation (Doha, March 2017). 
3. A memo by HE the Minister of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs on the outcome of the 16th Asia and the Pacific Regional Meeting of the ILO Member States (Bali - December 2016). 
4. A letter of HE the Minister of Municipality and Environment on the draft decision of the Minister of Municipality and Environment on the conditions and controls governing the exploitation of agricultural holdings.
