The Culture Ministry had been fighting terrorism and extremist thoughts for several years now, Minister Helmy el Namnam said on Monday.
A sit-in staged by intellectuals in 2013 sparked the nationwide protests that led to the June 30 revolution, the minister said in statements during his visit to Daqahliya governorate.
He, meanwhile, said that historic figures could not be removed from curricula.
The government will also present a bill to stop detention in media cases, he added.
