Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohammed Kamel Amro welcomed on Tuesday the UNESCO voting results which voted in favour of the state of Palestine to win a full membership of the said organization. The Foreign Minister said that the 107 votes for the bid included a number of important European countries, something the Foreign Minister believes reflects the international community''s support for Palestine''s right to exist as an independent state. He added that this support sends a message to Israel that in can no longer ignore the rights of Palestinians. Amro expressed his hope that the Palestinians'' win will pave the way for the UN Security Council to recognize a Palestinian State as a full member of the United Nations. The US will reportedly veto a decision to recognize Palestine as a UN-member if it wins the vote.
