Laughter of cheering children wearing their new clothes were echoed throughout public squares and gardens spread across the Syrian cities as they were enjoying the pleasures and joys of Eid al-Fitr. Entertainment places, particularly restaurants and parks seemed to have become the main destination for the Eid vacation enjoyers who found in this occasion an opportunity to please their kids as well as to relax, reduce job stress and spend time with the family and loved ones, feeling relief from the tension they experienced over the past months in light of the difficult circumstances Syria is undergoing. "We love the Eid…we enjoy playing with our friends and receiving toys, gifts and money from our relatives," said the 10-year old twin, Jean and Julia. "I prefer to go to internet cafes and play computer games," said Thaer Hamzeh, 12-year old. Amusement parks witness a great turn out during the Eid vacation as they become a paradise for children, especially those equipped with all fun activities including swings, ball fields, and numerous water and car games that provide fun-filled entertainment for all. Jawdat Jabr, an amusement park owner in Jaramana in Damascus, said he had to open his park at early hours of the day and close at late hours because of the increasing number of visitors. Eid activities are not limited to buying new clothes and going to parks. Among the funs of the Eid is making delicious sweets, which gives lots of pleasure to the mothers who enjoy taking pride in serving their tasty home-made sweets to their relatives and loved ones who pay visits to offer greetings and congratulations on Eid. Enjoyers of this year's Eid al-Fitr did not however forget to pay tribute to their defenders; the army and security martyrs who sacrificed their souls to protect Syria and the lives of the Syrians during the crisis their country is experiencing. A number of family members paid visits to the martyr cemeteries in their cities to pay tribute to their souls before they embarked on enjoying the Eid vacation.
