Arab troops participating in the 'Arab Shield 1' drills continued their extensive land, sea and air military training, as part of the joint Arab maneuvers that are expected to continue until November 16 at Egypt's Mohamed Naguib Military Base.
The military activities included a number of lectures to help broaden the experience of Arab military commanders and unify operational concepts among the different Arab troops.
Special forces have carried out several military tasks, including showing their skills on how they move and act on the battlefield and the tactics of concealment and camouflage, in addition to staging raids on hostile targets and conducting military exercises with live ammunition.
Paratroopers of the different Arab countries, involved in the Arab Shield-1 drills, conducted training on dealing with emergencies, including paragliding from high altitudes and executing the missions of displacement and flying in formations.
Meanwhile, the Arab land forces, backed by special forces, continued their training by staging simulated raids on terrorists’ lairs, urban warfare and engagement on the battlefield, in addition to shooting with live ammunition.
Arab naval forces carried out military exercises on attacking, boarding and searching suspicious ships, while the air forces trained on conducting sorties to carry out defensive air operations and attack hostile targets.
Forces from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan flocked over the past few days to several air bases and navy zones to take part in the drills.
The drills fall within the framework of promoting military cooperation between Egypt and sisterly Arab states to enhance the combat potentials of the Armed Forces and promote military relations to support security and stability efforts in the region.
