The Royal Oman Police had to use helicopters Monday morning to recover bodies of a father and his son from the wreckage of their white car that fell 300 metres down in the valley from the mountainous roads with several hairpin turns in Quriyat, an hour's drive east of Muscat. "The father and son were travelling from Umq Al Rubakh village to the Quriyat town on the unpaved hilly road when the car probably went out of control on a sharp bend and fell 300 metres down in the gorge," revealed Haitham Bin Abdullah Al Rahbi from ROP's Public Relations Department. He added that another citizen saw the car wreckage in the valley and reported the incident to the Quriyat police station. The caller informed police that the car was at such a depth it was impossible for him to reach them. Article continues below The Quriyat Police Station immediately rushed Civil Defence teams as well as ambulance to the accident spot. The body of the father was taken out of the valley by the Civil Defence teams with the help of citizens. However, Al Rahbi, pointed out that after the difficulties faced by the rescue teams in bringing father's body up on the road it was decided to call for ROP's air wing and helicopter was sent to take out body of the son from the wreckage of the car. The police thanked citizens for their help in the recovery of the bodies and at the same time appealed to motorists to exercise extreme caution, especially while driving on mountainous roads.
