During their 28th meeting held here yesterday, GCC Labour Ministers honoured the former Director General of the GCC Labour and Social Affairs' Executive Board Kamil Saleh Al Saleh in recognition of his pioneering contributions in the field of work across the GCC. The honouring, the first of its kind to be received by Bahraini, sheds lights on the significant role played by Kamil Saleh Al Saleh in establishing the Executive Board in Manama in 1978 and laying the foundation for a more fruitful GCC coordination and complementarity in the labour and social fields. During the ceremony, attended by the Labour Minister Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan and his GCC counterparts, a documentary film, highlighting Al Saleh's contributions, was shown. On the occasion, Al Saleh took pride in the honouring, praising the key role played by Bahrain in enhancing joint GCC action. Kamil Saleh Al Saleh joined the Labour Ministry in 1971 and represented the kingdom in the Executive Board of the GCC Labour and Social Affairs Ministers' Council and in other regional and global gatherings. In 1978, he was requested to set up the Executive Board of the GCC Labour and Social Affairs Ministers' Council in Manama, and became its Secretary General from 1979 to 2000. In the 2001, he was appointed at the Foreign Ministry's Court with the rank of Ambassador. Then, he became the kingdom's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Iran, Turkmenistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. In May, 2003, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa granted him the Bahrain Medal of the First Class in recognition of his distinguished national contributions.
