Hizbullah on Thursday condemned what it termed as "the oppressive measures adopted by the Bahraini authorities against its citizens," adding that dozens of women were rounded up and terrorized in this campaign. The party said in a statement that Bahraini authorities have detained, handcuffed and humiliated women who were also subjected to verbal abuse. "This unprecedented violation to the Arab and Muslim women, is another crime added to the series of crimes committed by the Bahraini authorities which recently passed life term prison sentences against citizens and political leaders whose only crime was demanding freedom and better political and social conditions for their citizens," the statement red. It added that the Bahraini opposition used democratic means and refrained from resorting to violence. "These oppressive practices reminds of the U.S. terrorist practices against detainees in Guantanamo and Abu Ghrayeb prisons. Hizbullah renews its condemnation for the practices of the Bahraini authorities and confirms its support for the legitimate demands of the people who are fighting for their freedom," the statement said.
