The Minister of Orientation and Endowment, Amar Mirghani Hussein, has announced that a conference on religious coexistence between Christians and Muslim will be held soon, in collaboration with the National Assembly, saying the conference would be preceded by a conclusion of a social connection charter
The Minister who received the UK ambassador to the Sudan, Michel Aron, has stressed that it was vital to reflect the religious coexistence in the country, saying difference in belief never means offering different treatment and that citizenship is the yardstick for enjoying right and exercising duties.
He said violent extremism and terrorism are problems from which all religions suffer and that efforts should be concerted to fight them.
He said his ministry has approved a project or national tolerance which seeks to bring to light the fact that all religions call for love and tolerance.
On his part the UK diplomat has underlined the need to use the opportunity and send a clear message, particularly after the lifting of economic sanctions against the Sudan, to change the erroneous picture about the Sudan.
He said Sudan is a country which enjoys religious coexistence and that it stands out as having no equal in third world countries, commending the idea of convening the said conference, and that they would support it.
