The Islamic Sharia has a long history in protecting children and its rules in this regard are unparalleled with any other social system, Al Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed el Tayeb said.
During a speech to a conference on launching a joint publication “Peace. Love. Tolerance. Key Messages from Islam and Christianity on Protecting Children from Violence and Harmful Practices”, Tayeb said Al Azhar is also keen to defend the rights of children and protect them from all forms of violence, including child marriage, forced marriage, female genital mutilation, child labor, child rape and domestic and school violence against children.
