Italian Embassy in Libya on Tuesday dismissed reports claiming that a military delegation paid a visit to a military base near the city of Sirte which lies halfway between Tripoli and Benghazi.
On its Twitter page, the embassy described the reports as ‘fake news’.
“Today's #fakenews concerning #Italy: Italian military delegation visiting a military base in the Sirt [Sirte] area...”
On Sunday, a Libyan security official in Sirte city said the delegation toured the base and Sirte International Airport.
