Jordanian Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi said on Saturday that his country is stepping up efforts to stop the Israeli escalation in Al Quds.
Amman is putting more pressure on the Israeli government to abolish one-sided security measures adopted in violation of its international and legal commitments, Safadi said in a phone call with his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry.
He asserted the necessity to de-escalate the tensions in the holy city. He called on Israel to reopen Al Aqsa Mosque and to respect the legal and historical status of the holy places.
During the phone conversation, the two top diplomats probed possible ways to resolve the crisis and restore calm to the city.
