Amman - Arab Today

Under the patronage of HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, the "Jordanian and Palestinian Women Together for a Better Future" conference was recently held at Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum (TAGKF).
Attended by a Palestinian delegation headed by Governor of Ramallah and Al-Bireh Dr. Laila Ghannam, the two-day conference discussed various topics concerning Jordanian and Palestinian women in different political, social, economic, media and legal fields.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh expressed his pride to be a Palestinian-Jordanian; born in Palestine and raised and lived in Jordan which gave him opportunities for work development and creativity.
Recently, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh was awarded the Order of Independence of the First Class by His Majesty King Abdullah II.: "I came to this country as a refugee where I decided to turn the Palestinian suffering to a blessing and to serve the community as a Jordanian citizen. You gave me a homeland which I am proud of and taught me to love its people."
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh continued, "Jordanian and Palestinian women are in one team. They work together for one cause. The best way to predict the future is to make it as we want. The main role of woman is to teach her children the moral obligations commitments that help them always choose the right path despite of the difficulties they may face. Those children will formulate the future. They can make us exceed others and restore the Arab civilization."
Governor of Ramallah and Al-Bireh stated: "In the entire world, women face challenges for being women only. In Palestine in specific, women face the same challenges, in addition to the Occupation."
"The insistence of Palestinian women to challenge, develop and achieve enduringly delivers the message that the Palestinian people deserve to live," she said.
Ghannam talked about her experience as the first woman governor in the Arab world, the challenges she faced and her insistence to prove her competence; pointing out that the success of her experience proves that more women deserve to handle leading positions.
On her part, Rania Haddadin, the coordinator of the conference, said: "The Palestinian and Jordanian women have been twin sisters over the ages and they celebrate the International Women's Day together to talk about Occupation, the status of Palestinian women and the challenges they face and the difficulties existing in Palestine."
"This conference came to provide recommendations to be implemented with the support of Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh and TAG- Knowledge Forum along with the decision-makers," she added.
The conference was attended by parliamentarians, politicians, lawyers and media representatives from Palestine and Jordan.
During the conference, Governor Ghannam was honored for her achievements and excellence. In her turn, she honored Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh for his continuous efforts and support.
