King Abdullah II of Jordan, now visiting Britain, has conferred with British Foreign Secretary William Hague on the latest developments in the region , means to enhance bilateral ties, in addition to the political changes in the Arab World and their impacts on the future of the region. During their meeting held here last night, They also discussed means to achieve peace in the Middle East based on the two-state solution, which is the sole way to end the Palestinian- Israeli conflict, as well as the British role in supporting peace efforts to establish an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 border with East Jerusalem as its capital. The continuation of the Israeli settlement activity is an obstacle to peace-making efforts, King Abdullah II said, stressing meantime the need to enhance the already strong relations between Jordan and UK especially in political and economic fields. The King also briefed the British official on Jordan''s efforts to achieve reforms in political, economic and social fields. In a press statement following the meeting, Hague described his meeting with the King as "positive" and "constructive", stressing the strong ties between Jordan and the U.K. The meeting focused on regional developments and the need to make progress in the peace process, Hague said, praising Jordan''s efforts to realize reforms in various fields. He also expressed his country''s commitment to partnership with Jordan through finding new ways to enhancing bilateral economic cooperation and supporting pioneering projects in Jordan.(QNA) MD
