The Iraqi ambassador in Cairo said on Friday that the liberation of Mosul from Daesh took only nine months at a time when western sources expected that it could take a decade or two.
"We are looking forward in the coming stage to liberating the remaining Iraqi lands from Daesh as a step to start a political settlement with the aim of achieving a political harmony that leads to an appropriate climate to launch a reconstruction process, achieve stability and bring back the displaced," he said at a ceremony to celebrate the victory in Mosul.
He asserted that the victory would only be completed when the displaced return to their areas. He called on the international community to provide help in this regard. Source: Mena
