Despite Israel’s restrictions on the entry to Khan al-Ahmar village, east of Jerusalem, hundreds of Palestinians were able to perform the weekly Friday prayer there to show support for the village which is facing an imminent threat of demolition by Israeli authorities.
Following the prayer, the worshipers took part in the weekly nonviolent march at the main Jerusalem-Jericho road, which passes near the village, to express their rejection of the Israeli move. The protesters waved Palestine flags and chanted slogans condemning Israel’s plan to demolish the village.
Khan al-Ahmar, a few kilometers to the east of Jerusalem, is under threat by Israel of demolition and displacement of its Bedouin community in order to build a Jewish settlement on the location.
Two weeks ago, the Israeli occupation forces ordered the residents of the Bedouin community to dismantle their homes and leave the community before the start of October.
