The People’s Assembly on Thursday approved a bill stipulating the ratification the treaty of amity and cooperation signed on Sep 4 2018 between Syria and Abkhazia.
The People’s Assembly also approved a bill on amending some of provisions of the Law of the Sea no. 28 of 2003.
The article no.6 of the Law of the Sea states that foreign vessels exercising the right of passage in the territorial sea shall observe the laws and regulations in force in the Syrian Arab Republic as well as the provisions of international laws, in particular those related to transport, navigation, cable protection, pipelines, conservation of living resources, fisheries, scientific research and pollution works.
The ninth article of the law states the Syrian Arab Republic exercises sovereign rights for the purpose of exploration and exploitation of resources on its continental shelf.
