President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met on Thursday with Ali Adel Eshmawi, the commander of the northern military zone.
The commander reviewed a report on the work progress in a number of projects currently under construction in the area under his command.
President Sisi highlighted the importance of commitment to the timetables set for the projects and establishing development projects in impoverished areas to provide a decent life for citizens there.
A day earlier, the president issued on Wednesday a presidential decree upon which a national council for combating terrorism and extremism will be established with a view to rallying institutional and societal capacities to uproot the causes of terrorism and to address its impact.
It will draw up a national comprehensive strategy to combat terrorism and extremism in Egypt locally and internationally.
