Security chiefs in 13 governorates inspected on Sunday measures taken by police to secure public celebrations of Eid El Fitr, who marks the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan.
The governorates are Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, Qalyubia, Menoufia, Fayoum, Beheira, Aswan, Sohag, along with Qena, Assiut, Kafr El-Sheikh and Gharbiya.
Millions of people across the country started their day with performing Eid prayers in dedicated areas, that required police protection.
As Eid celebrations kicked off, the security chiefs were keen on greeting the residents over the advent of the Eid.
They made sure that necessary security measures were taken as part of the Interior Ministry's strategy to communicate and contact with the residents in different occasions.
