A number of Daesh militants have fled from Tal Afar district in western Mosul city as Iraqi security forces set to launch a military operation to liberate the neighborhood, Iraqiya TV News Channel reported on Sunday.
The Iraqi Army's Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Othman al Ghanmi said earlier that the Iraqi troops are awaiting the green light from Prime Minister Haider Al Abadi to start the military operation in the district.
The Iraqi army has provided all necessary equipment and developed military plans for the operation, he added, asserting the joint Iraqi troops are stationed in their positions in preparation for the offensive.
Meanwhile, the Iraqi security forces have seized an arms cache of the terrorist group in Mishref area in the western part of Mosul city.
