Supreme Judicial Council
Cairo - Arab Today

The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) denied on Wednesday media reports that President of the Court of Cassation Counselor Mostafa Gamal El din has proposed amending the article 44 of the judiciary law.

The article 44 of the law sets the mechanism to choose the president of the cassation court.

In a statement, the Supreme Judicial Council described as groundless those reports, asserting it didn’t receive any motions on this regard.

According to the constitution, the Supreme Judicial Council is the only body that has the right to discuss draft laws related to the affairs of the judiciary and public prosecution.
